George Rusaw was
named "Builder of the Year" for 1992-1993 by the Florida Home
Builders' Association (FHBA). The FHBA is one of the largest of its
kind in the nation, with 18,000 members and associates. The "Builder
of the Year" award is the FHBA's highest honor and is awarded
annually to a builder who has exemplified excellence and dedication
to the building industry in Florida and to his own community. In
addition, the Citrus County Builders Association has named George "Builder
of the Year" four times, leading to the designation of "Builder
of the Decade".

George is president
of Rusaw Homes, which has been honored many times with awards in the
annual Citrus County Parade of Homes. Rusaw Homes has been named
winner of the prestigious Aurora Award for interior design
and energy efficiency.
1993 marked a
highlight in George's new home building career when Rusaw Homes was
honored by the Home Owners' Warranty Corporation with one of the
highest builder's awards in the nation, the Award for
Construction Excellence (ACE), recognizing Rusaw Homes as one
of the top five builders in the United States.
Having spent
virtually his entire life in the building industry, George has
earned the respect of his peers. He was the first president of the
Citrus County Builders Association and during ten of the past 18
years has been either an office holder or committee chairman. He is
now a Life Director. George has also held numerous leadership
positions in the State and National Builders' Associations. He is
currently a member of the Board of Directors of the National Home
Builders Association. He is active in the community, having served
on the Citrus County Planning Commission, the Blue Ribbon Committee
on Infrastructure and the Tree Ordinance Committee. He is past
chairman of the county's affordable housing Task Force.
George Rusaw is the
youngest person ever to be selected as Florida's "Builder of the
Year".
